Woes of a young Indian Girl

This is one of the most common woe that any Indian female faces, every single day. But this was the first time, (well, almost) I faced it, first-hand. There are these buses we call MTC buses (Metropolitan Transport Corporation).

ये है हमारा SHAME (well my hindi is not so good, but just wanted to put it)

ஒத்துக்க முடியாது [hey the THU and MU are not coming properly. hope u were able to read it ;) ]

It is a perfectly noble idea to have public transport system. It is beneficial in millions of ways, but the abuses & the mental torture girls & ladies experience on these buses is just absolutely unfair.

Today, i travelled by MTC bus, after a real long time. These buses have the long seat at the back which is reserved for ladies. But when we got on, the whole seat was occupied by men, except two places towards the right. One aunty went to the extreme right, and I had to sit to her left, next to a man. My sister had to go to some other seat, as none of the men from the ladies seat made a move to make way for her. Well I pardon that (actually it is not supposed to be pardoned. That seat is reserved for ladies!!!! how dare these men occupy it??). The man who was next to me, was sitting too close & I was irritated. Can't he move a little and sit decently? I was disgusted. How lame! It was so bugging!!! He just wouldn't budge! How gross can people get???!!

Well maybe this is a really small issue. But then, it gave me so much of mental torture & i was truly piqued. So many many many girls & ladies go thru this injustice every single day. Many of my classmates share experiences where men just behave like barbarians. Men's attitude need to change. They just have to stop looking at women & girls as lifeless toys , that can be used for their time pass & fun.

As a girl, I thoroughly disapprove of the manner in which people of my sex are treated on the buses of my city. I am disgusted.

No more justice in India???

I guess everyone knows about the Scarlett Keeling case… i think it would have been a tuff choice for everyone bout whom to support for. Fiona (Scarlett’s mom) or the police. It was a tuff choice for myself. I kinda felt Fiona was telling the truth but then, othertimes I felt she was expecting too much…I mean….get real! By getting the real accused sent to prison she’s not gonna get her daughter bak, is she? I feel sorry for Fiona but I think she doesn’t know how the Indian police and judiciary work… why does Indian police and judiciary work like this anyway???There is no need for the Goa police to have covered-up in the first postmortem. Why did they have to say she had drowned?? Ok, that was over and Fiona asked for the CBI inquiry. First, it was not granted by the CM and then finally she got it and they also carried out a second post-mortem… and then, they’ve accused 3 or 4 ppl and also arrested them. Yet, Fiona doesn’t approve and she says tat the big fish is yet to be caught. Why isn’t she happy with the result? Ok, mebe I dunno. Now, she has written a letter to the PM and they say this is her last hope. Sometimes I feel Fiona is acting too smart and expects too much. But on the whole I think the Indian police, judiciary and the Investigation agencies are to be blamed. If they treat tourists like this, what would others think about India?

Justice for the ppl affected in the Mumbai blast, 1993 was given in 2007. And also for so many cases of the like. One more case – that Sabrina and Jessica lal. Is this really justice? Justice after more than 10 years….duh! and Mumbai blast took 14 yrs to be solved and now Fiona expects to get justice within a month. Are u kiddin me??? If I can leave a personal message for Fiona I would sat “Dear Fiona, please talk some sense. Please go bak to your own country. Don’t ever come back to Goa, it’s a nightmare for you…You will definitely get justice after 12 years. So note the date in your calendar-March,2020. Please return to India in 2020 and then expect to imprison the real accused. Nothing you do is gona change the Indian police. Farewell!”

And I also dread all the ppl who actually rape and murder. Phew! When will India get better???

Another case which I saw in tday’s news…a 11 yr old burnt alive. A white qualis had hit the boy’s bicycle. He protested and asked money to repair his bicycle. So they just set him on fire! Ah! These ppl!!!! Why dyu have to set him on fire? I mean…even if u don’t wanna give the money jus shoo him away or jus ignore him and go off…and it seems the police arrived soon after but cudn’t catch the accused. Duh! And even 24 hrs after this incident the police isn’t taking any action. Indian police, Indian police! Only fit for taking bribes….

This brings me to the title of the post, “No more justice in India?” Even if something happens to us we’ll get justice only after 10 yrs or no justice at all… Isn’t there any way to change the situation??

Indian Policemen

I really don't wanna hurt anyone in particular in this post. Just suddenly this thought struck me. Well folks, today, i saw a policeman in our neighbourhood. And he made me realize the pathetic state of policemen in our country today. He was just SO fat, with such an enormous tummy. Seriously, i don't know how policemen are given their posts & badges. Coz u see, this man was so fat, that his buttons on his shirt were protruding out. I hope u get me. If this man witnesses a burgulary or some mishap, he can hardly walk fast, let alone run and give a successful chase. I mean, lets think logical. This policeman was just SOOOOOO fat. And not only him, many of the policemen i've seen before are awfully *fAt*.I wonder if the authorities who give policeman badges to policemen would consider giving it to thinner & healthier men, rather than fat & lousy men. What say? I somehow feel that the percentage of fat (by fat, i mean, UNIMAGINABLY fat) police people in India is quite high....

Can't use a DUSTBIN??

today i had been to a railway station. we had just finished shopping and we were very tired. So we got two cups of coffee and one cup of pepsi. There was a dustbin near the stall, and i was so happy that i can make use of it, because it is so hard to find a dustbin in my city (chennai). But i was angered beyond limits when the lady incharge of the stall ordered us not to use the dustbin; and the reason she gave was that if we used the dustbin, flies will hover around her stall. What a dumb woman! I was really flush with anger. How horrid can people get?? When dustbins are provided, WHY is a CITIZEN of India PROHIBITED from using a dustbin?? It just makes no sense. Still my anger hasn't subsided. It is so pathetic and this is injustice.

Two days back, a man came from EXNORA (Excellent Noval and Radical Ideas), a group that is doing a really good job of keeping our city green and clean and creating awareness among students. This man, presented many good ideas and thoughts how we can keep our land litter-free. He told us that we must use our spare dustbin, ie, our pockets, to store the candy wrappers and other papers and then throw them in a dustbin. He told this because there aren't many dustbins around these days. But today I was disgusted at the way that woman literally told me to litter. She told me not to use the dustbin!!! How could she? Where are her brains?

Then when I climbed the stairs of the railway bridge, I looked out. All along the railway tracks there were so many white plastic papers and plastic cups and all kinds of waste. If every person who threw that, had enough sense and used his "spare dustbin", just imagine how green that place would have been?? Grass would have thrived and we would have had a lovely lush green path all along the tracks. But now, the land looked dead. It was so dirty. Why this injustice? why isn't there a right to use even a dustbin????? This is plain madness, i would say... what do u folks out there say?

Rajiv Gandhi Memorial

Today our school's NSS unit went on a small camp.. we visited a small village school and had a wonderful and memorable time. On our return, we visited Rajiv Gandhi's memorial. It was a very quiet place and it was awesome. But when I read the stone tablets that spoke of him, I was moved... He had been such a good leader, and yet he was assasinated. I felt bad... all the good people are killed and cheaters are allowed to survive in our country. But I felt good that atleast, my countrymen had enough sense to build a respectable place in remembrance of this great personality.

I learnt from the info they had put up there, that Rajiv campaigned 20 hours a day & he didnt have his special security that day. He only had his normal security and was walking among the public. One lady, pretended to touch his feet and in a fraction, her human bomb exploded killing so many... I felt miserable... how can anyone possibly be a part of a human bomb?? I can hardly imagine.. How did she get the heart to do such a wicked thing? I have been so disturbed by this whole thing.... Why so much hatred against a mahatma?
